David Brozeski is a retired member of the music faculty the Derry Area School District, where he served as Musical Department Chairman and director of the middle school instrumental program. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1973 and in 1979 was awarded his Masters of Arts in Music degree from the same university. He studied under Gary Olmstead, professor of percussion. While at I.U.P. he was a member of the Wind Ensemble, the Concert Band, the Marching Band, the Symphony Orchestra, the Percussion Ensemble, and the Mellowmen Jazz Ensemble.
Dave has participated in public and private music education for over thirty five years, and has written, performed, and recorded music professionally for over forty years. He has also served three terms as president of the Westmoreland Music Educators Association. David and his wife Ruth have three children and three grandchildren. Son, David Carl is the oldest, is married, and is employed as a chemistry teacher by the Norwin School District. His son Brian is also employed by the Norwin School district and teaches high school mathematics. Daughter, Kasia currently attends Point Park College and is working toward a degree in Arts and Sports Management.
Dave and Ruth own Brozeski Music, a full service music store in Blairsville, PA. The store serves the musical needs of students, schools, and musicians in Indiana County, PA and surrounding counties. In addition to his appointment as Director of the Blairsville Community Band, David is also the leader and drummer for the Dave Brozeski Quartet, and the Brozeski Music Big Band, a nineteen piece jazz band comprised of musicians from Indiana County and nearby counties. The bands play various private and community functions in Western Pennsylvania.
